Supposedly a way of using your photos to bring in passive income, Shutterstock is recommended as the best site for beginners. Photos must be 4MP in size as a minimum, and any people recognisable need to agree to be featured. I looked through my photos to find any bigger than 4MP. Unfortunately most of my photos are stored in Google Photos which had compressed them to maximise storage (at my own choosing - I did not know I would want the full size files!) I looked on my phone instead and uploaded some of the biggest photos I had, without people in them, after making a free account on Shutterstock.

I then looked at the photos on my iMac and uploaded my first 10 with titles and keywords as prompted. I did not put a lot of thought into this but read afterwards that it can take 3 tries to be accepted as a contributor so use your best photos, but luckily enough half of the photos I put on were accepted and I was on track. Apparently you need to put on about 6000 photos over several years to make any significant monthly income but it will be interesting to see what happens. I have been uploading 20 pictures a day from my phone while watching TV then submitting 10 of these per day after reviewing on the big screen and adding keywords. Half of these have been accepted for my portfolio.

I will let you know how I get on in due course. Have a go yourself if you enjoy playing with your photos.
